Name: 1429 Distinguishing
Marks: · The tag attached to the back of her otherwise bald head - it
has her number printed on it. · A brass lorgnette with one broken lens and a glass handle,
and a fringed bobbin-lace shawl made from an antimacassar.
Appearance: 1429's skin is
composed of dove-gray cotton velveteen and was once a lady's glove, evidenced
by the double row of pearl buttons on her front. Though the fabric is tied
off at wrists and neck, around her ankles it's been arranged to button as
well, with another pair of buttons. Most of her gold-toned brass frame is of
unknown origin and rather unremarkable, but the pieces comprising her feet
were taken from the handles of a pair of sewing scissors and still show some
decorative scrollwork. What's visible of her stitching is burgundy, and the
stitching on the back of her head is accented with dark red crystal bugle beads. Also attached there is what looks like a
price-tag displaying in delicate copperplate writing the number 1429 and a
dollar sign. Quirks: · Visually, 1429 is on a permanent acid trip - wires got crossed
somewhere, and as a result she perceives the world as being in constant
motion. The best way to describe this is that to her, everything seems to be
swaying or flowing in a sort of kaleidoscopic dance. The effect is stronger
the further away objects are, but she's learned to work around it and would
probably be worse off if her vision were suddenly normal. Usually her optics have a sort of unfocused look. · 1429 is a medium,
having something of an affinity for wandering spirits - she may not be able
to see them correctly, but can usually tell when there's one nearby and will
often converse with what looks like empty air. Sometimes, in fact, it is
empty air, but she's more often right than wrong. She also claims to be able
to tell fortunes using the threads tied to her shawl, but this has yet to be
either proven or disproven. About:
Though made from what would best
be classified as old ladies' accessories, 1429 is without a doubt nothing of
the sort. She is in fact not the intended occupant of the frame she currently
resides in. Fluttery and a little fluffbrained, she
mostly tends to wander about, offering in a friendly manner to tell fortunes
for just about anyone who doesn't immediately tell her off. Her voice is soft
and breathy, and gets even more so when she goes into one of her 'trances',
either reading threads or speaking to spirits. She doesn't judge by
affiliations for the most part, and believes herself to have a kinship with
animals...which could get her into trouble with machines. Unafraid to get up
close and invasive, 1429 more or less paws at others until they either break
down and let her try to read their fortune or make it eminently clear she
needs to back off on pain of mortal injury...note that sometimes even the
threat of death doesn't work on people who think petting and soft words will
fix all the world's problems. In fact, sometimes she seems a little too
affectionate and will go so far as to kiss someone's cheek when sending them
on their way. She has a habit of humming to herself almost constantly and is
generally to be found with a small smile on her face...but she can also be
eerily quiet and very sneaky when she wants to be, and sometimes makes a game
of surprising others if they seem uneasy, to try and loosen them up, and can
come across as childishly excited when any of her ventures happens to
succeed. 1429 currently lives in an eccentric little antique shop near what remains of the suburbs. She makes her home in a well-preserved Victorian aviary. Associated
